The Carpenter's Kids
Holy Trinity is Providing for the Education
of 50 AIDS Orphans in Chitelela Parish, Tanzania
In December 2009, Chitelela Parish
sent this word of gratitude
to Holy Trinity:
We greet you in the name
of Jesus Christ.
We are very happy for your wonderful letter that you sent to us. Thank you very much.
We thank God that you were happy for our message and we continue to be closely known each other concerning health and other things about the kids. Again thank you very much.
Kids, committee member, parents and guardians received the letter with a great Joy and they were very happy to hear from you that you are fine. Again we say thank you for receiving the ERD project, it is very important to us and the whole village. It is helping people especially in health for giving them education about health.
Let us share with you that we have kids who finished standard seven this year. So after the results came few weeks ago, some kids are passing but we didn't get exactly number of the kids that passed exams but we let you know on the next post. We thank you for praying for them.
Lastly we want to wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New year 2010.
God bless you all! Chitelela Parish
Carpenter's Kids is a partnership between the Episcopal Diocese of New York and the Anglican Diocese of Central Tanganyika. “Carpenter's Kids" are HIV/AIDs orphans and other vulnerable children who need support in obtaining a primary education.
The Anglican Diocese of Central Tanganyika, based in the city of Dodoma, in the central region of Tanzania, East Africa, has about 550,000 members across 200 parishes. Within each parish are at least 200 HIV/AIDs orphans and other vulnerable children — totaling an estimated 40,000 children.
Although public school in Tanzania is free, students cannot attend unless they have uniforms, supplies, and money for breakfast. Often, the extended families who care for Tanzania’s 2.5 million AIDS orphans cannot afford this. Children supported by the Carpenter’s Kids program receive a school uniform, a pair of shoes, socks, soap, breakfast on school days, and adequate school supplies.
Holy Trinity is in five-year partnership with Chitelela Parish in Tanzania to support 50 Carpenter’s Kids each year. The cost for ensuring the education of a child is just $56.50 per year, or just $4.70 per month.
Holy Trinity invites you to help fulfill the parish's commitment by pledging to sponsor a child. You can support a child in 2009 with an immediate financial gift. Or you can support a child for the remaining three years of Holy Trinity's five-year commitment, either paying the full amount of your gift now or contributing to 2009 now and pledging to contribute again in 2010 and 2011. To make a pledge to support a Carpenter’s Kid, please email the parish office. Thank you!
