STEPHEN R. FRASER, native of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, has completed a bachelor’s degree in music at the University of Toronto, and master’s degrees from the Eastman School of Music, and Yale University - Institute of Sacred Music. From 2006 to 2007, Stephen was in Paris, France, studying improvisation and composition with Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin and Thierry Escaich.

During the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to New York City, he accompanied The Cathedral of Saint Patrick Young Singers (CSPYS) at the organ during a performance for His Holiness at St. Joseph’s Seminary. Moreover, the choir sang one of Stephen’s compositions for this special event, an arrangement entitled “Now the Green Blade Riseth”. Stephen was winner of the 2008 American Guild of Organists/ECS Publishing Award in Choral Composition for his choir anthem “Rejoice, the Lord is King”, which recently had its New York City premiere at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick on Christ the King Sunday.

In Manhattan, Stephen is associate minister of music at The Church of the Holy Trinity where he is director of The Trinity Choristers and Instrumentalists and is organist for the 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday liturgies. He is also assistant organist at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick, where he can be heard playing 8 a.m. masses broadcast live on SIRIUS Radio. In addition, he serves as composer in residence for the The Cathedral of Saint Patrick Young Singers. Since September, he has been teaching choir and music theory at The Saint Stephen of Hungary School where he is developing a first-rate children's choir, The Saint Stephen of Hungary Choristers. Stephen is also a faculty member of the Yorkville Arts Academy, teaching choral and instrumental music to children.
