Farewell Purse For Altar Sound Equipment

We invite all parishioners to contribute generously to Michael's Farewell Purse, which he has very generously offered to contribute entirely to the Altar Communications Equipment Fund. The Communications Equipment Fund is raising funds for the purchase of a new altar sound system which will improve the experience for parishioners in the Church, help the hearing impaired, and record sermons to be made available on the website. It will include new microphones, a badly-needed replacement for the public address amplifier, a digital audio recorder and special listening devices for the hearing impaired. This will be a much-needed improvement during church services and will better meet the needs of the congregation. You can write a check for Michael's Farewell Purse and please make sure you designate "Michael's Farewell Purse" on the check - or as we outline below you can now make a pledge online for this or any other special purpose via the website Pledge form.

Music Program Needs Your Financial Support

Beckwith-Daniel-01 2If you've been to any of the 10:30am Services of late or the recent Evensong, you'll know we've got a spectacular Music Program going and a special talent leading the effort, Daniel Beckwith, our new Interim Music Director. We need to raise nearly $30,000 to sustain the level of quality for the choir and musicians needed for the rest of this year starting in September after the Summer break. Please help!

As a church musician, Mr. Beckwith has served as Assistant Organist at The Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church and St. Bartholomew's Church; Interim Director of Music/Organist at St. John's-in–the-Village, NYC; Director of Music/Organist at The Second Congregational Church, Greenwich, CT.; Interim Director of Music/Organist at St. Luke's Parish, Darien, CT., Director of Music/Organist at The Reformed Church, Bronxville, New York; professional staff singer and Assisting Organist at The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. Mr. Beckwith is presently Interim Director of Music/Organist at The Church of the Holy Trinity and Assistant Organist at Temple Emmanu-EL, NYC.

Danny has also conducted in many of the major opera houses throughout North America and Europe. With a repertoire that spans the 17th through the 20th centuries, he has been hailed as one of the most exciting conductors of his generation. He has conducted at The Metropolitan Opera, The New York City Opera, The Lyric Opera of Chicago, The San Francisco Opera, the Glyndebourne Festival, The Grand Théâtre du Genève, The Canadian Opera Company, Vancouver Opera. Television credits include Good Morning America, The View, Martha Stewart Living with the opera star soprano Renée Fleming.

You May Now Provide Much Needed Financial Support
For CHT Programs Using the Website

We have just modified the Pledge Form on the CHT website (as shown below) to allow for the designation of Special Pledges, beyond the scope of an annual pledge. If you would like to make a pledge especially for the Warden's Purse/Altar Sound Equipment or the Music Program, you can easily do so by using the easy-to-use Website form. Payments can be made by check or by electronic transfer by arrangement with the church office. As always thank you for continued support and for sustaining the community we have together!

RIP Rachel Dowell

RachelThe entire community at Church of the Holy Trinity mourns the passing of Rachel Dowell on Saturday, June 9, 2012 from a recurrence of breast cancer. We celebrate the many tireless contributions Rachel made to the Church in her time with us, and know that she passed on peacefully with herself and the world, heart filled to the brim with love from the many people and places touched by her life.

Rachel was an active member of the Choir, the Overnight Shelter Program, Music at Holy Trinity, and Lay Reader. She will be sorely missed by all. A private memorial service for Rachel is planned by her family this coming weekend in Packanack Lake, New Jersey.
