Episcopal leaders in Hawaii are assessing the immediate needs of people who have been impacted by this week’s wildfires on the island of Maui, which have killed at least 55 people and destroyed at least a thousand buildings, including the historic Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, built in 1927.
One charity that is already helping all they can is A Cup of Cold Water, a community Care-Van outreach program on the Island of Maui, formed by a group of committed Episcopalians from Good Shepherd, Holy Innocents, St. John's and Trinity By-the-Sea. The program is a food and clothing distribution service for the poor and needy in the community, and uses the care-van to deliver essential food, hygiene and clothing items throughout the island.
To make a financial donation, checks should be made payable to "A Cup of Cold Water" and mailed to 2140 Main Street, Wailuku, HI 96793.
