Exploring the Gothic

J. Stewart Barney, the architect of the Church of the Holy Trinity, designed the church in the French Gothic style of the 13th century. To understand our own Gothic architecture, we’re going to take a look at the origins of the style in Paris and the original architect Abbot Suger and his Cathedral of Saint Denis in which he aimed to create a space wherein “by the grace of God, I can be transported from this inferior to that higher world.” Led by Simone Crockett
